Ferry Services
The Western
Isles, or Outer Hebrides as it is often called, is situated off the
north west coast of Scotland. Offering excellent 'away from it
all' opportunities, the islands are easily accessible with good,
regular, air and ferry links from mainland Scotland.
The
Caledonian MacBrayne ferry to Lewis sails 2-3 times daily between
Stornoway and the small port town of Ullapool (situated about 65 miles from the Highland capital of
Inverness).
Caledonian MacBrayne also
regularly
sails between Tarbert
(Isle of Harris), Uig (Isle
of
Skye) and Lochmaddy (North Uist). There is also a
ferry between Leverburgh in Harris and Berneray in North Uist.
Other sailings
operate between Lochboisdale (South Uist) to Oban and Barra and
Barra-Eriskay
Full details on ferry sailings
to and from the isles are available
on the Caledonian MacBrayne
